Development & Production

Hightech Made in Germany

Our Strength

IMM Photonics builds the optical and optoelectronic components of tomorrow. At our locations in Unterschleißheim near Munich and Teisnach in Lower Bavaria, we develop and produce according to high technical standards.

Optic – Electronic – Mechanic

Tightest tolerances and excellent long-term stability are part of our daily work; with the expertise of our workforce and modern equipment, we achieve more than customers initially demand.

Optics, electronics, and mechanics harmoniously united. To achieve this, optical and electronic development, as well as mechanical construction, rely on the latest CAD and simulation solutions. The seamless transition from prototype development to series production accelerates development and brings new models to the market faster.

What matters to the Customer

When it comes to priorities, our customers often mention the same points. Development and production work as a well-coordinated team, combining years of experience to address these key demands:

  1. PRECISION AND QUALITY: As good as possible, or even better. Today’s demands on optical and optoelectronic components are challenging, which means that laser diodes, LEDs, and optical fibers must perform more individually and in combination to meet the requirements of medical technology, data communication, or industrial automation.
  2. CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS: Those who settle for standard become standard. Buyers look for suppliers who develop their own solutions and can customize products based on the project’s needs.
  3. INTEGRATION OF PROTOTYPING AND SERIES PRODUCTION: A prototype is useless if it can’t be efficiently mass-produced. That’s why our development process considers the seamless transition from prototyping to series production right from the start. This saves time and costs down the road.
  4. MODERN TECHNOLOGIES: Development and production utilize tools and techniques such as CAD, simulation software, 3D printing, and automated manufacturing processes. This ensures that products remain state-of-the-art and competitive in the long term.
  5. CERTIFIES MANUFACTURING STANDARDS: No customer wants to hinder their market access by ignoring standards. Compliance with international standards and certifications like ISO and ANSI/ESD is essential in photonics, ensuring general market access, safety, quality, and reliability of products.
  6. EFFICIENT COMMUNICATION AND SUPPORT: Buyers want to be involved, even in the development and production process. That’s why they communicate directly with our engineers and production specialists, pointing out market specifics and, in return, gaining early insights into the details of new components.

Technical Set-up

Our production is equipped with advanced technical facilities to manufacture the products of tomorrow today:

  • ISO Class 6 cleanroom for the highest cleanliness standards in sensitive manufacturing processes
  • 3D printers for tool making, prototype production, and series manufacturing, allowing for quick in-house adjustments and optimizations
  • Production spaces for Class 3B and 4 lasers
  • Marking lasers for flexible labeling of components
  • Climate-controlled rooms and Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPA) per DIN EN 61340-5-1 to protect electronics
  • Dark rooms and collimation benches for optimal collimation and long focal lengths
  • Mobile flow boxes for increased cleanliness and quality in production
  • Robotics for gluing processes and fine adjustments to minimize tolerances

Made in Germany

IMM Photonics manufactures in Germany, and we see this as a competitive advantage. Here, we leverage synergies, such as at our Teisnach location, where we benefit from proximity to Deggendorf University, which offers expertise in measurement and manufacturing technology as well as process development.

Close collaboration with companies at the technology campus fosters knowledge transfer and creates an environment of innovation and cooperation. This ensures the high quality of our products and their competitiveness—today and in the future.
