Our Responsibility

Sustainability means many things to us. It means being economically successful in the long term while taking responsibility for the environment, society, and future generations.

Efficient use of Ressources

We use resources efficiently, aim to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible, and reduce waste. Our product development always strives for longevity. Sustainability is a key part of IMM Photonics’ corporate strategy.

Whether it’s in developing sustainable processes, eco-friendly manufacturing methods, or planning investments, sustainability, environmental protection, and responsible resource management are at the forefront of all our business activities.

Achieved So Far

Certified with Ecovadis Bronze Status 2023
CO2 emissions reduced by over 45% in 2023 vs. 2022 (mobility, heating, electricity)
100% renewable energy used at our energy-intensive Teisnach location
Fast and consistent implementation of RoHS and REACh criteria (purchasing only from manufacturers who also comply)
Sorted and proper disposal of waste
Energy-efficient LED lighting at both locations
Production process: replaced mercury vapor lamps with resource-saving UV LEDs
Energy-saving ceiling cooling using water from a deep well at our headquarters
Reduced use of technical devices to a minimum
Reduced number of servers, significantly lowering the need for air conditioning
Water purification system instead of bottled water
Motion sensors in public spaces

What We Are Doing Next

Measuring and reducing emissions (goal for 2024: further reduce CO2e by approximately 30%)
Paperless office as much as possible
Selection of company locations based on environmental criteria (e.g., Unterschleißheim: the “Edison Park” building received the ICU Business Award for sustainable and forward-thinking business practices)
Offering reusable packaging
Avoiding packaging waste (e.g., mixing adhesives in-house)
Reducing product complexity to extend lifecycles
Complying with sustainability criteria of our stakeholders
Sustainable sourcing of resources
Adhering to labor and human rights, with a sense of responsibility and ethical duty
Zero-tolerance policy on all forms of bribery, corruption, extortion, and embezzlement, as well as discrimination and harassment
Collegiality and consideration for others
Open, honest communication

And Then?

Improvement of Ecovadis certification with reassessment targeted at the end of 2024
Digitize the production process and analyze the data
Expand the use of reusable packaging
Consistently optimize processes for sustainability and environmental protection
